Sweet Peas and Cutie Pies
Has your little one started to become ready to play? This Playgroup will cover the basic foundation skills that later skills are built upon. It is important to remember that children often focus either on talking or moving and it can be hard to do both. During this phase, families will learn about new ways their little one is exploring the world both physically and cognitively.
During class, we will:
Facilitated by Nicole Croak, Occupational Therapist, who brings with her, knowledge of infant development and experience raising her own four children to help caregivers support the development of their infant, celebrate milestones and face the challenges parenting can bring.
During class, we will:
- Opportunities for children to practice sitting, crawling, and transitional skills
- Sensory exploration
- Learning about simple ways to "baby proof" your home
- Discussion about baby signing
- Learn the importance of tummy time and its link to other developmental skills
- Help your child roll and sit
- Prepare your child to use their hands for later functional play
- Discuss how and when to introduce first foods
- Discussion time for parents to ask questions or discuss "moments" of parenting
- Participate in "family style" snack time
